Mirrored drive: HD failure error..Replaced with SSD?

My existing dual boot winxp/win7 mirrored configuration appears to have issues.

I ordered a SSD hd today from newegg.

Question: new install, or just re-image the SSD?

IF i do new install, do i have to have a authorization from Microsoft? I purchased this Windows 7 Professional 2 years ago...

    thanks

You can reinstall retail Win7 as often and wherever you want, as long as if it's Upgrade it qualifies with an XP/Vista copy which doesn't need to be installed at the time.

Unplug any other HD's, boot the Win7 installer to Clean Reinstall following the same steps as in this tutorial to get a perfect reinstall.

If your SSD space gets tight, copy the User folders to a secondary HD then link them to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. Once the data drive appears in each library, you can delete the contents of the User folder on C.
