Bootmgr is missing after computer crashes

I was on youtube when all of a sudden, firefox froze and my computer then crashed. After it restarted, "bootmgr is missing" popped up. I tried a repair disk but it didn't work.

    Any suggestions?

If you have the 7 dvd try booting to the repair tools and open up a command prompt there. Simply typing in the bootrec commands should get you back running again.

The "bootrec /fixmbr" and "bootrec /fixboot" once you have typed in the "bootrec /ScanOS" command would be the two used there. As far as the Startup repair tool sometimes you simply have to give that a second or third run in order to see it finish fixing the problem.

It still says "bootmgr is missing" after I did the bootrec commands a couple of times.

OUCH! Have you tried running the Startup repair tool about 2 or 3 times? That might get you going again running the automatic tool option.

Check in BIOS setup that your HD is still being detected and is set to boot first.. Then work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot
