Windows cannot install on this computer's hardware issue installing W7

My brother asked me to take a look at his computer because he was having issues with it. Well, he took it upon himself to fix the issues and corrupted the boot file. I couldn't fix the issue, so I saved whatever he wanted and did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 Ultimate. I get to the "completing instillation" phase and get this message:

"Windows cannot install on this computer's hardware issue"

I went to the Microsoft site and it told me to download a driver, downloaded the driver and that didn't help. Then I tried the other method of changing the settings in BIOS from RAID to AHCI and IDE. Still nothing.

I also get a blue screen saying that it has to do a memory dump, so my next plan was to take out 4 gigs of memory and leave the other 4 gigs.

The computer does not have old hardware. (HP Pavilion Elite m9500t Desktop PC Product Specifications and Configurable Options HP Pavilion Elite m9500t CTO Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English))

I'm going to see if I can get Ubuntu installed on the machine.

    Any ideas?

Well, I got Ubuntu to install and it is working, but I think I have an idea of what the issue might be. I'm guessing the GPU is getting hot (fan isn't spinning) so it is causing the issue when the video resolution changes. The PC just shuts down. So I am going to go buy another cheapy GPU and see if I have the same issue.

    Hi,

What type of Windows 7 installation is this? OEM (pre-installed) or RETAIL (purchased separately)?

    Regards,

Someone was having the same issue, and the issue went away when they used the 32bit disc. Going to try that as well.

Too bad I can't leave Ubuntu!

One is a 2009 version of W7 ultimate (purchased) also tried using the 2011 version with SP1(purchased). Trying to install 64bit.

It was the GPU. Bought a HD6450 card from Fry's, and it fixed the issue. 64bit installed fine.
