Bloatware...what is it?
Hello,
I planned a fresh clean install of Win 7 Pro 64 bits in my Tecra R840 after receiving the new Plextor M5Pro ssd! Since, after the BSOD last week, I have no apps (office, photoshop, etc..that I had before) in it, I'm doing experiments (untill I will receive the ne ssd).
I work in a institution where I've access to a original copy of Win 7 Pro 64 bit for installation in my personal computer! So I tried it...! After the installation my laptop was "unrecognizable"! I mean the screen was low res, etc! So I needed to install all the drivers one by one (that I have in my portable hdd, after download one by one...from the toshiba support site), etc! And I needed to download SP1 update too! Ok, all this to say that it is not an easy task (for me). Of course I could go to a "pc clinic" and they will do the job ($$).
So, afterall it seems that will go the easy way: since I have the recovery discs for my laptop (I made the 5 dvds when I bought the laptop) why not:
1- install the ssd,
2- update the firmware and then
3- make an "factory clean" install of everything?
I already experiment this 3 hours ago, after the aformentioned fresh install of win 7! And everything went just fine and at this momente I have my laptop with everything installed like 6 months ago when I bought it!
So...about the bloatware! What is it (I'm from portugal..!) ?
It is true that the rescue disks installed a lot of stuff that I did not want (macafee, bbc something, etc...) and lots of apps from toshiba too!
Could anyone, please, tell me what should I keep and what can I remove without hurting my laptop! For example, the toshiba fingerprint utilty is a nice utilty for logging in in the web...but maybe I will not use it! So, maybe I will remove it! Tempro...it seems a waste of time!
My big problem ist that at this moment, even without any apps (besides the ones automatically installed by the recovery disks) I have lots of services running and lots of apps at the startup msconfig!
I will put a list here of all the services running and all the apps installed!
Thanks for reading and I will appreciate all the tips
