Problems installing 64 Bit on Windows 7 Enterprise

open an admin command prompt and run

slmgr /dlv

it will tell you the expiration stuff, or whether it is permanently activated

slmgr -xpr

It says I have 3 days until Automatic Activation. When I do activate now it comes up with all kids of errors.

Something is horribly wrong, cause this is the first time this CD has been used.

There's only one version of the Win7 Enterprise media. It's not like XP/2003 where there was a separate version for volume licensing and retail. During installation, you won't be asked for a product key. After installation, you will be asked to activate. At that point, if you have a KMS server setup on your network with the appropriate DNS records published, it should be able to find it automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to use the slmgr.vbs script included to manually set the location of your KMS server. You also have the option of activating against Microsoft with a MAK style key.

do I really have to go on? hope you have a win 7 dvd. the only install you can do is a clean install

Well we are not testing it at work, so I installed it at home.

I see, that's why it's looking for DNS...hmm.

Thanks for the info! Not sure if reinstalling will even work at this point, but I can try it (will only take 20 min or so).
