How To Install Dell Media Direct 3.Xx in After Loading Windows 7

Hi ,
I had dell inspiron 1525 on vista purchased 2years ago , a month back I gave it to technician for OS update.
Its now working like charm on windows 7 . But the problem is , the stupid technician forget to load dell media direct on it.I searched many sites to install it without wiping my os , but no luck.please let me know how can I install it on laptop without reloading os again as I have so many softwares and data on my 500gb HD.or
Can I do it by creating a partition with any drive ??
Thanks

The Dell Media Direct software/program should install. Have you gone to the Dell website and posted there and or looked for that program in there download section

After reading some Google links it look like it is not possible without first Wiping the drive. That software has to be installed Before the OS is installed.

I have no idea. From the little reading I did that does not seem to be an option. It Must be installed Before the OS.

Probably some type of Proprietary OS installed in a hidden section of the drive that can't be done once there is a Real Operating System installed.

Really if it could someone would have done it already and posted about it somewhere on the net. I didn't find any reference to that.

And for what reason do you really need this Media Direct stuff.

I run Dell notebooks but the business class model, Latitude, so it was never installed on my Dell notebooks.

You can order Recovery disks which include the software you desire from Dell.

Otherwise I would research via Google how to reinstall Dell Media Direct. If it indeed does require installing it first then you can use these steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Let us know what you find out. Maybe someone who knows more about reinstalling the program will come along, too.

Thanks a lot.
Can I complete back-up my windows 7 including all the data, and programs (like itunes and purchased ones) and registries...like a complete image as it is now and than restore it back ? I heard there is something that'll do it with one click , will it back up everything ?. As I have no option rather than formatting it .

I have windows 7 ultimate dvd and a 500gb external HD.
Thanks again !

Hi,

Yes, you can do that - we call this procedure 'imaging' and it creates an image of the entire disk/partition that you select. I recommend reading this:

Imaging with free Macrium
