New System - drivers missing error in installation of Windows7

    Hello,

I have recently assembled a new PC with the following configuration

    Motherboard - Asus M5A97 R2.0
    CPU- AMD FX4100
    RAM- Transcend DDR3 4GB x 2
Graphics card - Saphirre AMD RAdeon 5450 HD
HDD- 1 TB Seagate Barracuda Sata drive

After installation, i checked in the bios and found that HDD and the internal DVD drive was not detected. Once I changed the port settings to IDE I was able to see them in the bios.

However, once I tried install windows7, I keep getting the error "a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing". This error has been discussed on this forum and others" however, none of the solutions worked. I have already tried the following

    1. Used the Microsoft DVD/USB maker
    2. Tried using and USB rather than a DVD
    3. Tried switching the USB ports as suggested by one person on the net
    4. I tried dowloading the AMD AHCI drivers on a USB and plug it in when the error comes and windows asks for the drivers. However, it is unable to locate it. In fact if I try to browse and select the drivers, the USB does not show up on the options. If I try the same thing with a dVD, then it says that windows cannot open the CD

So after 4 days of effort, net search etc. I am still without an OS. Can someone please help and also let me know if there is any compatibility issue?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Ensure that the USB is inserted into a USB2 port during installation. Unplug all other devices (with the exception of the mouse, keyboard and drive to be installed to). In your BIOS, ensure that the "Legacy USB" or similarly named setting is turned ON.

Where have you downloaded the Windows 7 ISO from? Only download it from this location:

Wanted to add that I have gone through this forum before finally posting a query of my own and hence have seen the common issues thread created by another user. Have tried all that but to no avail.

Thanks Golden, I did have to change enabled to Auto for one of the USB to show up in the boot priorities option. Am doing this for the first time so not sure and hence trying all options... will try with new settings the ISO file you have recommended. I had downloaded from a different location.

I have removed the DVD drive and only connected the HDD and the USB. The USB is only getting recognised through a 3.0 port. Also, if the USB is plugged in the back 3.0 port, the installation seems to get stuck at the logo stage. Can someone help with the bios settings, in case it helps. Currently the USB settings are

Legacy USB Support - Enabled (Options- Enabled, Disabled, Auto)

Legacy USB3.0 Support - Enabled (Options- Enabled, Disabled)

EHCI Handoff - Enabled (Options- Enabled, Disabled)

If connected through the front port, the one which came with the case, then the installation progresses but gets stuck at the same place. I have not been able to use the file from the link sent by Golden. However, I had tried another DVD from another source and had faced the same issue, so i am not too hopeful on the problem getting resolved by using another iso.

Are you using a USB 2.0 port ?, as there are NO Drivers for USB 3.0 in the Windows 7 ISO.

If this persists I would go back to trying DVD, burning the ISO only from Step 1 of the tutorial with the tool in Step 2. This should solve the error which is almost always a bad installer.
