Windows 7 install from x32 to x64 error! Nightmare!

New to this forum, but read a lot of information off here, but none has helped me as yet. Probably due to the almost infinte variables between computer parts and software.

My problem is the "no cd/dvd Drive Device driver" on a clean install of windows 7 ulitimate x64.

So I'll give you all a little information on what I'm hoping to achieve and as much info as is possible.
My aim is to install x64 version of windows 7 on my new 500gb sata hdd so I don't have to delete 1000's of pictures or gb's of music from my "old hdd" and make the most of my 16gb RAM with a system that will use it.

I am currently running Windows 7 ultimate x86, all genuine and legit, no problems what so ever, apart from I have 16GBs of RAM which only 3gb is usable because it's a x86 system.
I decided to upgrade (not from inside x86, via clean install) to the x64 version of windows 7 ultimate.
I checked that my computer was compatible with the methods shown (performance and tools info) And it checked out that I was able to run a x64 os on my machine.

I downloaded the .iso and the Windows7 usb/dvd download tool to make a proper bootable disk in windows (on a x32 machine, no idea if this means a thing)
I first tried to install from a normally burnt dvd at various speeds (from x16-x2 and made sure they were finalised)
I have also downloaded the .iso file from Digital River + torrent (just to check)
I have around 7 disks that don't boot, and one which does aswell as the standard x32 retail one which works perfectly.
---------boot disks that don't work were normally burn dvds (all speeds I tried). The one that did boot was made in the windows program for making a dvd install disk.
So I'm quite sure it's not the disk at fault.

It does makes me wonder if it is even possible to upgrade to a x64 system from a x32 setup?

I have downloaded the newest (what I can tell) Drivers from amd for the sata Raid controller (ahcix64s.sys+11-2_win7_32-64_raid.exe)

WHAT HAPPENS:
----------------
Go into bios change boot sequence to dvd-rom (insert win7x64 install disk)
press any key to boot from cd or dvd...
loading files
language selection and region
"click" install
setup starting
Problem "cd/dvd drive device drivers missing. If you have them on cd/dvd/usb ....etc.."
No matter which drivers I point at the system somes back with "no new devices found"

I have followed a lot of advice on here and booted from the dvd to the set up (changed bios sata mode to AHCI, RAID, IDE modes and tried with them all with no luck. I always end up after the language selection on "collecting information" trying to point the system at a driver

I do not own a flash drive (4gb) to put the install on, and have no other idea on what I may need to do.
So some people with any knowledge of this that could possibly give me some ways to progress would be awesome.

my computer specs are:
CPU: amd athlon II x3 460)
Ram: 16gb (4x4gb) corsair xms3 1033 quad channel
dvd drive: tsstcorp cd/dvdw ts-h552l
hdd's: seagate 320gb (unused in install)
seagate 500gb st50423as (formatted and fresh for install)
GPU: nvidia geforce gt9600
psu: 600w
Os: Windows 7 ulitmate x32.
(any other information can be given on request)

You need to do a clean install, As the new MOBO's now have a uEFI BIOS.

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals, Boot into BIOS setup to see if there is an EFI Boot Disk in BIOS Boot order. If so remove it, set DVD drive first to boot. If EFI BIOS also set to Legacy BIOS.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick, at first screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SEL DIS 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT

Next click Install Now to Clean Install Windows 7 to partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

If these steps fail and you continue getting the same error, it is a problem with the installer. Burn to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed, or write to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu.

Theog, I have tried your method to no avail.
MY mobo asrock 970 extreme4 has EUFI set up and boot options. I spent about an hour getting all the settings right to get the "EUFI - tsstcorp cd/dvdw" to boot with the win7x64 disk in it in EUFI mode.
I pressed F11 to custom boot the cd/dvd drive in EUFI

It was only the last time that I tried that I knew it was in EUFI mode 100% because the screen was smaller and I still ran into the same problems.
When I returned to the EUFI setup on restart, I found the non-EUFI "sata tsstcorp" in boot option 1, replacing what was EUFI.

I looked into the win7x64 install disk to see if I could find the .efi files I read it could need and they aren't on the install disk. I have the cdboot.efi and the cdboot_nopromt.efi files on the installation disk but they aren't seen When I get to the device driver stage.

I'm now going to try out gregrocker's suggestion before setting fire to my computer and giving this x64 up as a bad job

I have just tried gregrockers method but also get to the same point.
I unplugged everything. Basically just a mouse, keyboard, dvd drive and the hdd i was trying to install on. It managed to partition the hard drive before clicking install now but almost instantly it came back to the

"A required cd/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, cd, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

Only thing I've not tried is imgburn @ 4x speed.

The error almost always is a bad installer. But it could also be a bad DVD drive, so if latest official ISO burned using Imgburn x 4x speed fails repeatedly then write to flash stick and unplug the DVD drive to try booting it.

Tried the imgburn @4.0x it all burnt and verified smoothly, had no other programs running in the background, didn't even move the mouse! (can get a screenshot of the imgburn "last burn" if it will help?)

placed the newly burnt iso into the dvd drive and re-booted....the boot from dvd was a lot faster than usual, but still ended up with the exact same problem!

I have seen a few threads on here with more suggestions that I may try until I get the usb Flash drive
(refund from MS or a discount off the price of the os because you need a flash drive to run an install DVD?).

One which is inserting the mobo install disk when I get to the "driver error" and checking for the x64 drivers on there?

and the other one is another download of a .iso and burn using imgburn @ 4.0x
(But I don't know if I'll ever need 9 broken Windows 7 x64 ultimate install DVD's)

One last question. If the installer is bad, would I need to re-download a new .iso to put on the flash drive, because to me that makes no sense. If the installer is bad, it would be for on the flash drive, the only difference being that I won't have the dvd drive for this error to pop up... is the flash drive a kind of "ignore and skip to the next issue"?
What happens when I plug the dvd drive back in?
will it be undetected because it wasn't there during the install? or will it be like plug and play where it will auto install the driver when I turn on the computer for the first time?

Where did you get Win7 ISO? How is it being activated?

Download the latest to burn DVD or write to stick. Otherwise you have no way to know it's intact besides checking HASH against Technet or MSDN. Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

I have downloaded a few versions of the .iso from various places.
The one that "seems" to be finishing and all the correct files is the one off the Dell community website with a link to the digital river download.

I have the x17-59465.iso off there (described as Win 7 ultimate x64)
I also have the retail copy which I bought when I upgraded a few of my computer parts from scan.co.uk
(described as Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit, SP1 Operating System, Single, - OEM)
that is installed fine now.
I did think at one point that it would be free for me to upgrade from 32bit to 64bit. but If it isn't I will purchase a key after the install has run properly.

The keys work in both 32bit & 64bit.
