Can I Clean Install Windows 7 Without Delete My Partition (D:)?

I want to do clean install to my Windows XP pc. I have 500 GB of HDD and have been separated to 2 partition. Local Disk C: & Local Disk D: which C: is for system(program files, windows etc) and D: for my files(musics, videos etc).

So now I want to install W7, but I curios, can I just only format the C: and install the W7 to C: and doing nothing to D: so I will not lost my files?

    Yes, you can do that.

Most would tell you to back up D regardless, as a precaution.

Yes, but back up your D drive anyway. You don't want to take the chance that something goes wrong and you lose your stuff.

    That's the short answer.

You'll need to manually format your C and watch carefully as Windows 7 is installing so you put it there and not elsewhere.

There is the question of how large your C drive is, but I'm guessing you've already made sure it was big enough to begin with.

    Have Fun.
