Upgrading from Vista to Windows 7

I'm trying to determine if I need to purchase Win 7 upgrade or full version. I would like to be able to get the upgrade since it's cheaper.

The computer will not boot to the Vista OS. I'm sure it's a system file but I don't want to jack around with Vista anymore plus I can't find my install disk. Does the upgrade require the current OS to be completely functional? I would like to be able to delete the existing data. Can I do this with the upgrade?

Thanks

Hello yuyu, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since you currently own a legal copy of Vista, you will be able to do a clean install with an upgrade copy of Windows 7 like in the tutorial below. There's no need to have Vista running or installed first to do so.

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Hope this helps,

Best option - I think - is to go with a full OEM version for $99. Here are your options: Newegg.com - windows 7 oem
