Hello Bill, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It depends on how your Windows 7 was originally installed?

If using a retail installation disc, then you could just do a clean install of Windows 7 to restore it.

If Windows 7 came preinstalled on your computer, then you should create a set of factory recovery discs before upgrading to Windows 8 to have to be able to do a factory restore of Windows 7 if needed in the future. If you like, please post back with what brand and model your computer is, and I'll be happy to find the instructions for how to create a set of recovery discs for your model.

You should be able to open Samsung Recovery Solution to have an option to create a "complete backup". This will be on page 83 of your manual.

Start Menu -> All Programs -> Samsung Recovery Solution

OR

By pressing F4 key during boot.

For the manual and drivers for your computer, you can get them at the Samsung link below.

It would be best to save it to separate physical HDD (internal or external) than the one Windows 7 is installed on.

DVD's are not as reliable, and it would take quite a few for a complete image backup.

so i take that to mean, it would be ok to put it on my internal d drive, as wins 7 is on my c drive.

If your D drive is a separate physical HDD than the C drive, then you're good to go.

Otherwise, you'll have to be real careful not to delete or select it when installing Windows 8 to not delete it by mistake.
