Updating Mediashield Rom Bios 9.83 on Dell XPS720

Hello,

At the boot up screen I see Rom Bios 9.83 displayed. As we all know Dell (having charged fortunes for a crap PC) never went above Vista 64 in driver files. Basically I've installed their 9.99 upgrade but the start up screen still shows 9.83.
How do I actually update this I ask? They have 2 files, 1 of which appears to install and the 2nd simply takes you to the directory that I've unzipped the other files to.
The Dell references are both marked as 9.99.0.2 A06 and the downloads are R171689 and R164975. Some help would be well appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Michael
