Setup was unable to create a new system partition

Who advised to use Clean All command which is overkill? The specified command is Clean which takes seconds and gives the same wipe of the boot sector which is the concern here.

Did you follow all of the steps in Post #47 above?

If it fails write the Pro ISO to stick using a new ISO and the tool in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to remove the installer from the equation.

If these fail test your HD with the maker's HD Diagnostic followed by Disk Check if you can make a partition.

Post #6 said to use clean all command.

What I wound up doing is burning a DVD to install from there instead of using the USB stick. For whatever reason, the exact same ISO on the dvd had no problems installing when the USB stick would fail.

Sometimes it's necessary to use UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive.

I'm sorry about the misinformation in Post #6 which wasted so much of your time. He must have missed one of the discussions we've had about Clean All being overkill except to make data unrecoverable by most all but forensics methods. Diskpart Clean All debate thread

I tried this and it worked. However I got another error later, so I started again. The second time ti wouldn't work! I keep on getting the same error (setup was unable to create a new system partition etc)

1) fdisk your hdd ( remember, youre going to loose everything )
2) re-partition
3) full-format ( to hide bad sectors if there are)
4) install
5) solved ;-)

PS: DO ALL OF THIS ON THE SAME PC/LAPTOP THAT YOURE GOING TO USE, AS EACH PC'S BIOS CAN READ THE HDD DIFFERENTLY...CAUSING ERRORS WHEN PUTING A HDD AFTER FDISKING/FORMATING FROM 1 PC TO ANOTHER!

I've been trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on my Lenovo X200 laptop so I followed the steps in Post #47. I've also used UltraISO software to create the bootable USB. Boot order is set to USB HDD followed by ATA HDD0 (Hitachi), but I am stuck at the Install screen with the following error -

"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."

I had an Windows 7 installed on this laptop until yesterday and wanted to do a fresh install, so I ended up deleting the partition and formatting it from the boot screen. Not sure what went wrong after that!

I keep getting this below.....
it says Disc 0 partition 1 total size 55.9gb free, then the caution sign at the bottom says Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information.....No idea what next?

1. Set your PC to boot from DVD via BIOS
2. Put the DVD in and let it load until you get to this screen:
   
3. Once at this screen, press: (SHIFT+F10) to get a CMD window

   list disk <ENTER>

5. After it completes, exit the INSTALL COMPLETELY and reboot.
6. Once you are back in, go about installing Windows just DO NOT ALLOW Windows to create a new partition, use the only one there.
   
7. Windows will now install
