Having difficulty re: win7 clean install (searched everywhere)

Hello everyone, I have a slight problem but first:

    The set up:

I have an Alienware m17x (r4) relatively new, possibly a few months old.

    the problem:
After allowing my younger brother to use it the thing had problems loading, slow, drivers messed up etc. I decided to REPAIR using the disk that was given with the machine. Inserted, followed directions etc and went for a cup of tea.

When I returned the thing was stuck at "windows is starting up" I just assumed it was taking longer than usual but then after 30+ mins I realised nope... It's stuck.

Rebooted to find it's not getting further than "windows is starting" screen. Again, 30 or so mins wait. Rebooted, and it gave the option to repair (can't remember the exact wording used, but 2 choices 1- repair... And 2 - start normally). I decided to repair, it loaded files, I choose my region and it moved into another blue screen where it stayed for approx 1.5 hours with no change... Stuck :s

Rebooted using the win7 disk (original) and decided I'll do a clean install. However after giving my region and keyboard setting it stays stuck on "setup is starting..." it's been almost 1 hour and the screen hasn't changed.

For the love of baby Jesus help me, I went from repair to accepting a clean re-install. I need to get back to using the laptop for studies. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm not a computer whiz and I'm desperate for help. Thanks for your time, and I'm sorry for the long story.

Thanks for the reply, but I can't get the machine to start up. Not in safe mode, normal mode or even complete a repair/clean install.

Do you have a live distro of a linux cd, Say knoppix or unbutu? try booting from that? It will boot the rig with an operating system just with a DVD/CD, that is if you have no other way, say you have a hard drive issue or some other reason.

You want to use the bootable HD diagnostics extended CD scan for your brand HD from Theog's links.

If it passes, then work through the memtest and other steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start .

If disk continue to fail to boot, reset the BIOS to defaults in BIOS setup or Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS
