Windows 7: can i download a new bios upgrate just like that?

hi i got a asus motherboard and i saw there was a newer bios can i just download and instal??i got a 0603 and the newer bios is the latest i know its the good one.

Are you suffering any specific problem that the bios update would fix?
If not I suggest against it. It's rare that it happens but a bad bios flash will kill your system.
Often to a level that the board must be RMA'ed to the manufacturer to fix it. As the self recovery options they offer are either very difficult to use properly, or just don't work.
...because of that, I only suggest doing it if there is a direct reason.

It's not something that you should do unless it fixes a problem that you're having. A failed BIOS update can brick the board. (Some Asus boards can be rescued by replacing the CMOS chip, available from their estore in the US and Canada.)

I've been rather casual about BIOS updates for about 15 years. Never had a problem until earlier this year, when I killed a couple of Z68 boards from different manufacturers. (Looks like UEFI boards are more persnickety than the older BIOS boards.)

If you must do a BIOS, update, it's not particularly difficult. I'd recommend reading your manual (available for download from Asus, if you've misplaced the original). There are several methods for doing the upgrade; I'd recommend EZ Flash.

Unless there is a specific problem I wouldn't fix what isn't broken.

I also have an ASUS motherboard and it was vary easy to update the BIOS when I did it. If you do it, make sure you don't have the power cut or like others have said, you could end up with a bricked motherboard. Just read your manual and it tells you a few ways that it can be done. I updated from the BIOS menu with the appropriate files downloaded to a flash drive.
