    System restore failure

    Hi,
During a blackout the other night my comp was obviously shut off, when the power came back I turned on my computer and logged in. After about ten or fifteen seconds it gave the bsod and shut down, then continued to do that for a while. I asked a friend what to do and he suggested a system restore or full reformat, I chose system restore. I have done it twice before without a problem. Now however after resetting my computer to factory settings it takes me to the log in screen and nothing I have tried works( I assume because it doesn't have any profiles now). My computer did not come with a windows cd.
I'm using an Inspiron 560 and haven't had this problem when restoring it to factory settings.
    Any suggestions?

Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

If you didn't know what you're doing you should have asked here first, not after randomly messing things up more.

First thing I would do is try running Dell Diagnostics by tapping the F12 key at boot, then choosing bootable Diagnostics.

It isn't System Restore if you were resetting to Factory condition which is a Dell Windows 7 PC Restore and will wipe out all of your data which might have been recoverable with Startup Repair, actual System Restore from the F8 Advanced Boot Options menu, 7 DVD or Repair CD.

If you haven't proceeded I would instead try running Startup Repair first from System Recovery Options, then actual System Restore from that menu.

Boot into BIOS setup to see that HD is still detected and is set first to boot, then trigger disks using the Dell F12 menu.

Report back on each step tried, then if necessary use the installer provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to rescue your files as shown in step 5 and get a perfect reinstall which is a much cleaner install than running Recovery with all of it's bloatware.
