HDD Not working with SSD after Fresh Install?

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and would like some technical information and knowledge from the wise.

I currently purchased a samsung ssd. I installed the ssd with a fresh copy of windows 7 ultimate x64 from a usb. installation was a breeze. quick simple and straight forward.

(previously my laptop was setup as raid 0 with 2 western digital 500gb hdd)

i changed my bios to ahci and removed both wd hdd's

i installed the samsung ssd and installed windows 7 Ultimate x64

after installing drivers and updating the computer i went ahead turned it off and reinstalled one of the hdd in the second internal slot.

windows starts up fine however I do not see the second drive in my computer.

****I went to computer management/disk management and the disk 0(samsung ssd shows up as healthy and as disk 0) the Western digital 500gb shows up as unallocated 931.52gb with a little red arrow pointing down next to disk 1)

i try to right click and initialize disk ( but initialie disk is greyed out, along with new simple volume etc... the only things i can click are properties help and offline)

So what I'm understanding is I made a mistake on thinking the computer would just accept my previous hdd. (which reads as 931.52gb instead of 500gb.. most likely due to it being a raid 0)

I don't mind formatting the hdd but I can't seem to do it as disk management won't let me.

I've been stuck on this for about 5 hours now along with endless google searches. which ultimately lead me to register on this site and ask the guys who know whats up.

both drives show up in intel rapid storage technology however the hdd says it's unavailable and the ssd says available.

Laptop is a MSI GT780R Intel Core i7-2630QM

Any and all help is very much appreciated! Thank you

Hi again everyone, turns out I decided to take a step back and look over everything once more.. I ended up going into the bios with the "ctrl I" function and reset my hdd to a non member disk/ non raid disk. then I was able to format and now I'm good to go!

either way.. I will be back for any future questions!

    cheers!
