Can you downgrade from windows 8 if you used ugrade for 7?

I upgraded from win 7 pro tp ultimate with a microsoft bought key. I still have the key. I want to install 8 on my pc without having to partition. If I do not like it, and decide to go back, how can I do that when I only have an upgrade key-no iso or dvd? I bought the key through the microsoft site.

Hello Mike,

You could use the tutorial to do a clean install with your Windows 7 to replace Windows 8. Step 1 has a Windows 7 ISO download link that you can use to install with.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Hope this helps,

So, would I lose everything? and is the ISO for ultimate? Since the key was an upgrade key from pro ultimate.

Thanks

Unfortunately, a downgrade requires a clean install, so be sure save anything you do not want to lose first.

If you are going back to Windows 7 Ultimate, then you would need to use a Windows 7 Ultimate ISO from the link in step 1 along with your Windows 7 Ultimate product key number.

Since this is an upgrade key for Windows 7 Ultimate, then you would want to use the tutorial below instead when you get to step 8.
