Fixed "Unable to load RAID drivers for Windows 7 installation"

    Hi Everyone,

I am currently attempting to install Windows 7 on an SSD RAID Array, and I have encountered several issues (this has been a one step forward, two steps backward affair). The issue that I am currently facing is the fact that I am unable to load RAID drivers during the OS installation.

As is normal for this kind of installation I choose "Custom" and I cannot see any drives listed, this is the point at which I click on "Load Drivers" and then I select "Browse". My challenge is that regardless of how I "insert the drivers", which is to say whether I put them on a separate USB drive (FAT32 partitioned), or take the Windows 7 installation DVD out and insert a CD with drivers - I simply cannot navigate to the drivers.

Because I am unable to load the RAID drivers I simply cannot proceed with the OS installation.

    *** Note ****

As of writing this I came across a program called RT Seven Lite, which has allowed me to create a "slip streamed" Windows 7 installation - using the program I was able to integrate the troublesome drivers into the Windows 7 installation disk.

    ***********

    Kind Regards,

    David

    Hi Gregrocker,

Yes it worked. However now that I have installed Windows 7 it is extremely unstable, typically rebooting about every 20 minutes. I am not sure if combining SSDs with RAID 0 was the best idea in the world, but now that I have "started down the track" I don't intend on turning back any time soon.

With results like these it is no surprise that I am going to persist...close to 1 Gbps read speed!!!

    Cheers

    Davo -

We never see anything but problems with RAID here for 3+ years.

    Hi Gregrocker,

There were several issues affecting my computers performance. Because it took so much effort to get this setup, I thought that I would write a post explaining to others some of the pitfalls that I experienced and how to get around them -

How to install Windows 7 on RAID0 with SSDs

As you will see in the above post I had issues ranging from incorrect RAM voltage, to messing with the Windows Page file. My system is now stable, with the FSB over-clocked to 2900MHz, and close to 1Gbps read on the drives :)

This new rig blows everything that I have ever used before AWAY!!!

    Thanks
