If you don't have other internet access to be in touch with us then make sure you have backed up your wireless or ethernet driver (however you connect to the net) in case it isn't in the installer so you can get online first thing to install all of your Important and Optional Windows Updates.
You can download it now to your backup from the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model, or back up C>Windows>System32>Drivers to browse to from Device manager if necessary.

Please explain the issues. Did you choose the correct Keyboard config at the first screen during installation?
if still no keyboard, try plugging in a USB keyboard, or
use On Screen keyboard at Control Panel>Ease of Access Center.
Look at the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model to see if any hotfixes or downloads are available pertaining to your keyboard.

I'm sorry, that's all I could type with the other keyboard.
So, I grabbed my external one and it is working fine.
I have to get ready to go to work, close tonite and open tomorrow morning but I shall be putting together a list of things for advice tomorrow nite.
Some things seem to be working ok and others not.
my windows experience scores have dropped! And I swear there's a catagory there that didn't exist before. I tried to rerun that assessment but it keeps hanging.
I did run and have a copy of the belarc from prior to reinstalling and from just a little while ago.
I wish I had a copy of a previous windows experience but at the moment not sure if I did keep a copy.
anyhow, on that we went from a 3.9 to a 2.5 with the processor now being the lowest at a 2.5..the graphics used to be our lowest and both me and hubby are thinking that we've never seen the gaming graphics catagory on this laptop - seriously!
and when I try to refresh the scores, it hangs on some 3d thing. Will rerun it and give a more thorough explanation tomorrow nite.
I also uninstalled the laptop keyboard for now and will get back to you all on that tomorrow nite as well to see how to proceed.
In the meantime, if there are any reports that you'd like me to run or information to gather, please let me know and I will work on assembling all of that for tomorrow nite.
Hopefully, it will all come down to just some tweaking and stuff to get everything back the way we'd like it to be.
The install itself went weird.
I checked to see if it would boot from the DVD copy of the iso and thought everything looked fine.
In the end, it started to run and then just died. I tried a few times and ended up with a screen that said I could try to continue in windows 7 or recovery. Tried both options, neither went very far before it died.
So, I put in the original recovery disc and tried to get it go under windows 7 option and it did.
The only way that I could get it do the install was by using the setup run on the dvd, which went very smoothly.
The only thing I was wondering about was that it gave me only option to proceed with keeping the windows old folder.
Other than that, it ran smoothly.
I made the backup recovery copy but have not made that mirror image yet...figured that I would wait until sure everything is good.
installed security essentials
tried the internet - that's how i discovered the keyboard was wacky when I tried to post here....hadn't done much other typing on it yet so obviously that surprised me, since I've never seen that happen.
Have installed many windows updates, obviously on internet with mozilla - have left it at explorer 8 and not upgrded to 9
uhm....any other details that I should include?
Please just let me know and again, I thank all of you for your help!!!!!!
Have a great nite and I will check back in again maybe tonite when I get home from work and see what you all say and then again tomorrow nite to see how we're proceeding from here.

Could be a bad burn of the ISO to Win7 disk. Are you saying you ran the Factory Recovery instead reinstalling all of the bloatware? If you ran the Win7 installation DVD from setup then it wasn't booted and was installed from the existing OS which is not a Clean install.
I would start over to download and burn another DVD from Steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 . This time however when you boot into the installation DVD, press Shift + F10 at first screen to run Diskpart Clean Command to wipe the HD of all boot code which can interfere. Then close Command Box and click Install Now, create your partitions as desired, format and install to first install partition, ignoring the small boot partition which is created.
The most important step in reisntalling is to install all Important and Optional Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) before importing anything, then only import drivers missing in Device Manager. So you should have IE9 now if you followed the steps.
If problems persist after following these best practices for reinstall we can help you decide which drivers (Display, chipset, etc) need to be tried from the Acer downloads webpage.

the install came from the DVD, not the laptop files.
I had to actually go in and and open the dvd and chose setup to run from there. You could actually hear the disc spinning as it did and there were no additional Acer items installed, just plain Win 7 - which I discovered doesn't include Microsoft Works.
I also deliberatly chose not to install the windows 9 update and just left the explorer at 8.
So, we added updates, security essentials and the usb for my mouse and external keyboard because I absolutely hate working with the mouse on the laptop.
The only thing I added additional was the software for the printer so that we could have access to that right away.
Anyhow, hubby came home from work and was frustrated with it all, he doesn't like the external keyboard, prefers the laptop.
I had texted him before I left for work and told him that the laptop was only partially restored and that there were problems with it.
He was like, we need to have it fully functional for stuff this weekend, so can you please just put it back to normal?
He meant the original total acer way.
So, I'm going to pull out my recovery discs and do that long process all over and leave this clean install without all the bloatware for another time.
Maybe after Christmas?
I'll just be sure this time around to make a list of all components from device manager so that I know what really exists inside as well as downloading another copy of the ISO for that.
But right now, I have to admit, much as I'd like to have it setup without all the bloated stuff..I don't have the patience to tweak away, post questions and research and all - despite all the wonderful efforts from everyone here.
and don't have the time either with busy retail season and when you work retail....tis the easiest time of year to get over-stressed.
I shall let you know when I complete this next redo and if any of you come up with anything that I should look for, get documentation or printouts for the next go-round, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all of your time and effort!!!! Looking forward to checking back in after the holidays.

A Question, opinions and advice wanted.
I have a very good friend who is pretty much computer illiterate. (And almost seems proud of that fact).
