does dell upgrade kit allow clean installs?

Hi everybody,

I am thinking of buying a laptop through dell and get the windows 7 upgrade kit sent at a later date. But I only want to do this if it will allow me a clean install, as I never do in place upgrades for obvious reasons. Does anybody know if Dell upgrade kit allows this?

(I know... I know... I should just wait... but I have time constraints beyond my control!)

Thanks in advance,
Lloyd

Welcome to Seven Forums hugh2323,

Dells Windows 7 upgrade is the same as MS and the other OEMs.
Nobody outside of MS knows for sure as they aren't talking about it. There is a lot of non MS talk about it, we won't know for sure until Oct 22.

The general consensus seems to be yes, you will have the choice between upgrade-in-place and Custom (Clean) Install.

I would ask on the Dell community and directly to Dell.
Before you place an order call them and ask your questions. Make sure the Dell computer is covered in the Windows 7 upgrade plan, not all models are.
