Windows 7: 32/64-bit, delivered via electronic distribution

no disc

Dell made a point of telling me there would be no disc when I got the pc. They did supply an os disc(only) and gave me the product key in case I needed to recover or reinstall Office.
They did the same with my laptop, giving me a prod key. The problem was finding a site from which to download the 64 bit Office. I tried 32 bit which does not work.

For both the desktop and the laptop the only discs issued were Roxio and the os one.

So I have two different prod keys for each pc but the 64 Office site is hard to find. I had success once at MS by using the trial but MS balked then allowed it. I was told to use the manuf(Dell) site where it is supposed to reside for clean instalations.

Can I save it to disc and run it from there as an exe to install in win 8 once I clean this nachine and install win 8.
I was not sure if I sent it from my desktop to the disc would it still install on Win 7 or 8? This way I coud keep a disc for future installations.
Or should I download it again directly to disc and bypass the desktop. I have not yet moved from 7 to 8 but all will be gone with a clean install.

If it's an .exe and not an .iso then just back it up with your other User files before reinstalling. This is what the modern Downloads folder is for, since we can obtain most installers previously on disk as .exe's from the software vendor (HP, etc) site.

In this case someone here was nice enough to provide it for you, so I would save it along with the Product Key in a Notepad file, permanently.

file location

I am extremely grateful, beleieve me.
I do not understand 'user files'.
If this pc is going to be formatted for the upgrade, shouldn't I save the location to external or removable media like a disc?

May I ask, I have the file downloaded to desktop. Can I just click" send to" and have it saved on a cd or do I need to use a dvd and do something different?
Once I know this I can use it for future Office installations.
Thank you

Back it up in your User Downloads folder. Then back up your User folders at all times externally.

Your User folders are the Documents, Pictures, Music, etc. folders which appear under the User name you are operating under in C:/Users

trying

Believe me I am trying. I will be formatting this pc.
I have a link in my inbox for Office.
When I click on it, it takes me to the file.
If I click on the file it will install Office.

So I should copy the link to Word and save it it to disc?

It asks for usb or mastrered - which would I use?

This way I would have it when needed. Please correct me where necessary.

This is the link for MS Office Home and Student 2010 64 bit.
Don't forget to uninstall the old first.
Hope this helps
