Windows 7: 0xc0000428 Cant get past boot manager

I have windows 7 on my laptop and I attempted to update my OS to windows 8, which was mounted to a blank DVD, in hopes of wiping everything due to continuous blue screens of death and automatic restarts. It looked like the installation was going to go through until the system restarted and the windows Boot Manager screen came up. It says the digital signature for this file couldn't be verified. When I boot up windows 7, system ecovery tools appear. Startup repair doesn't do any good. I can't restore because of no restore points. How can I revert back to get my laptop working again? I don't have a windows 7 boot disc

Why would you try to repair Windows 7 by installing Win8 thereby wiping it out? Do you have Win8 upgrade license you'd prefer using? If so you should burn the ISO using an image burner, Clean Install with Windows 8 Upgrade .

If not is there a possibility Windows 7 is still on the HD, or did Win8 install pass the phase where files were expanded?

If in doubt then use the Disk provided in Step 5 of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start to boot into Windows 7 Startup Repair and see if it finds an installation to repair. If so try the repair steps in tutorial to start Windows 7.

Otherwise use Step 9 rescue method to browse in further to see if you can rescue any files that might be moved to C:/windows.old in stranded Win8, or elsewhere.

Then skip to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

I have no clue. I figured I would knock out 2 birds with 1 stone. I just ran the "clean all" command and finished after about an hour. Now I'm at a screen that says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media I'm selected boot device and press a key "

So you've wiped Windows 7. Do you want to Clean Install with Windows 8 Upgrade
or Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

You need a Win8 Upgrade license, or for Windows 7 use the license on your laptop's COA sticker.

Ok so I started following the directions for the clean reinstall for Windows 7 and when I finished creating a bootable device via USB, the status bar turned red and it said something about bootsect will not be able to run. Thanks for the help you guys have given me so far.

Do you have a UEFI BIOS?

Try using UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive which always works for me when others don't.

Be sure to click the Format button before Write.

Thank you so much man. Ultra ISO worked for me. I got windows 7 reistalled but now I have no network drivers to connect to the Internet

As it clearly says in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 tutorial you need to put your wireless or ethernet driver on a USB stick or CD or in your backup so you can install it if it isn't provided by installer. Look at network connection icon in bottom right System Tray to see if there are networks to connect to. If not check Device Manager to see if Network driver is installed. If not import it from the Support Downloads webpage for your PC or network device by which you connect.

Once online immediately run Windows Update to install all Important and Optional Updates which will include more drivers. There will be multiple rounds with reboots. Then import any drivers which remain missing in Device Manager.
