Need Installation Help

Hi All,
This is my first post at the forum. I cannot get "7" to install. I'm dual booting on a Vista machine, created a partition and have burned the .iso file on different manufacturer DVDs and can only get to the Installing Windows page and after hanging at "Expanding Files" for about 20 minutes or so I get the message:

"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error Code: 0x80070017 ".

I've tried several times (also on a different machine) with the same results. As I said, I burned 4 DVDs (and downloaded the .iso from Microsoft twice) thinking I might have had corrupted files.

Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks............Tom

Hi odatkid

Another "Welcome" to our Forums!

Also, what program are you using to burn the iso with?
Most recommend ImgBurn as it's quick and the boot emulation is pretty much set right away.
Here's a good tutorial on how to use this Burn Windows 7 ISO to a DVD | Ts1Design

Good Luck!

Hi Dave,
I used Nero 7 and it verified the data (twice).

Thanks............Tom

Also it might help to choose your slowest burn speed, like 1x or 2x.

And +1 to the ImgBurn suggestion, have never had a coaster with that program.

Won't boot from CD at all. When I start Vista to look at the files on the DVD all I can see is a text file that says:

This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

(No way this should be this difficult)

Hi

I hope you meant DVD, not CD...

That message is weird since Vista supports that UDF file system protocol.
You're right...it shouldn't be, but obviously it's going to be (for you anyway.. )

I'd redownload the ISO and verify the checksum, and try it again with ImgBurn. I also tried a Nero 9 burnt DVD that failed to work as well and that's when I went to ImgBurn with no probs.

Thanks Chappy,
I did mean DVD and finally I burned another DVD on a different machine AND replaced the DVDRW in the target machine and SUCCESS! Just had the time to glance at the OS but it looks pretty cool.
Thank you all for your help and I'm sure to be back to pick your collective brains again.
