Windows 7: windows 7 starter installation failed

New to the forums so forgive me if im posting in the wrong location, Also sorry for the bad Grammar.

Me and my brother share a netbook HP mini 110 had a few problems with it before and managed to fix them myself, But the past few days ive been tearing my hair out.

My brother used the netbook a few days ago and shut it down as normal but there were updates to be completed so he left it to complete and closed the lid after it shut down. I went to use it on wednesday but it wouldnt boot so i decided to re-install windows using the HP recovery option. It was going fine until near the end then a error popped up stating that it could not be completed and it shut down, so i left it for 5mins as i went to make a drink came back to try again but this time it loaded up to a point where it states windows is setting up your computer for first time use(something along those lines). Then a error pops up saying windows is not installed to complete installation please restart computer. Im stuck in this loop.

I cant boot in safe mode, windows recovery states there is no errors ive got no restore points available i also have a bootable usb drive with windows recovery on that i used last time i had problems which sorted them out but i cant figure this out

The solution when Updates fail leaving Windows 7 unbootable is to boot into Windows 7 DVD or System Repair Disk to System Restore to before the time this occurred. If that fails run Startup Repair a few times with reboots. You should have Restore Points unless someone recklessly turned them off.

Running HP System Recovery is not the first resort to repair unbootable Windows 7. Work through the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start. The DVD is provided to do repairs or reinstall.

If these fail then I would strongly consider getting the vastly superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 since HP has the worst load of preinstalled crapware in the industry, which throttles Windows 7 from its its native perfect performance on adequate hardware when you have a perfect install.

Pay attention to how the netbook lid is set in Power Options: SHut down, sleep, hibernate, do nothing. It may have interfered somehow with the updates.
