Windows 7: Stuck installing upgrade on new ssd drive

I forgot my Windows 7 ultimate cd was an upgrade and installed it, now can't get out of the install to install Windows 7 pro How do you back out/cancel install on brand new ssd?

You don't have to. When you install clean with the Upgrade, you literally upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 7. It works like this:

1. When you are asked for the Product Key during the installation, leave it blank (it allows you to).
2. Deselect the option that automatically activates Windows when you're online
3. Finish the installation
4. When you get to the desktop, reinsert the DVD
5. Choose the Upgrade installation type
6. Enter the Product Key when you are asked for it
7. Activate
8. Enjoy.

You simply clean install Pro.

That's true. I guess what I didn't think of is, the Pro disc is already opened so he can't return it and just keep Ultimate.

And the fact that he would need a qualifying OS to be able to activate it.

I'm not saying that I support or recommend or advocate the act of buying Windows 7 Upgrade to do this if Windows 7 is your first operating system ever. Both my friend and I own legit copies of XP, so all we were doing was a superior installation method.
