Windows 7: Some Xp-Win7 questions

Xp/Win7 pending

Hi Dale, Cool... will dive in soon and see how it all pans out. I'm hoping it's still possible to have a quick launch bar (or equivalent) and I can dump stuff on the desktop (until I do a cleanup).

How about right click - Send To in Explorer ?

I think Access 97 gave trouble in XP until you renamed some German font... and there was a Service Pack needed...

I'll buy lots of aspirin and black hair dye before I start!

Windows 7`s taskbar IS a quick launch bar.

The 9600 is fine, I have 2 of them in 1 of my machines.

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I graduated up from XP Pro to Windows 7 Ultimate on my old compusarus with no issues. Ran XP for years and it was hard to let her go but worth it in the end. I found Windows 7 real easy to use even for a old fart like me. I kept a few older programs but there is oodles of free out there so why not use programs that fit the OS properly.

win 8 has the same platform as Windows 7, most of the software compatible with Windows 7 also works in win8, and its newer. its very important i think

It has touchscreen interface which ruins the desktop experience which is perfect on Windows 7. In place of the start menu a wall of buttons literally slams down between you and your work.

This may be fine for a tablet but is neither intuitive or effortless on a desktop where users are most interested in productive efficiency.

Fail. Either give desktop functionality or continue Windows 7 as the perfect desktop OS.

Do you really think so, I love that, you can just pull down the window and its closed, the start menu, "the metro" is also great, and yes it much great while its on touchscreen devices.
there are some additional themes that make the same start menu for you if you are not comfortable with metro.
also i think if you wanna swim oppose the river thats you that get tired. its the new os that Microsoft working on, then accept it and try to improve it.

i personally right now don't have the time to sync myself to this new environment but as soon as possible i would change my os to win8

There's been no interest at all in input from MVP's or anyone else on Win8. We were told as much at the MVP Summit in 2011, that they would rely on telemetry to get feedback. Yet apparently they missed that users kept adding back the Start Menu with apps like the actual Windows 7 Start Menu for Windows 8

It's not tiring at all to stick with Windows 7 for now as we are swamped with helping with MS's wildly successful OS, and will transition when the time comes that tens of millions of users who love it are ready to migrate.

But it is daunting to feel like we're being left behind by the company while sticking it out with their greatest success.
