Dual boot disappears after install

I have Windows 7 ultimate, I installed Windows 8 Enterprise on the partition. The installation went well, I was able to boot into Windows 8. I changed the primary boot OS to Windows 7, when I restarted my PC, the dual boot has disappeared. Windows boots straight into windows 7. I used msconfig to check the boot options, I can still see both windows 7 and 8 in there with Win7 as the default OS.

So I deleted the partition where Win8 is installed, recreated and formatted it. Re-installed Win8. I still get the same issue. Dual boot disappears after the first reboot.Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?

How are you activating Enterprise? It's meant for volume licensing in a business or organizational environment, usually adminstered by IT support.

If you are using trial or have it activated by your support then install EasyBCD to the OS marked System active in Disk Mgmt, add the other one to a Dual Boot Menu: EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required)

For any questions post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Mgmt drive map with listings. Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

Active flag is on System Reserved which is no longer booting the system as shown by the System flag being on C. So System Reserved should not be marked Active. Try moving the Active flag to C where it belongs now that it holds the System flag and boot files.

If that isn't enough then install EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required) to C, click Edit the OS menu to Delete any other entry besides C, the Add the other OS by unique name, type and drive letter.

If this doesnt work we can try to revive the System Reserved partition to boot E as it was intended when it was installed but somehow had its boot files and System flag to C.

It is very unusual for a System Reserved partition to be installed when there is already a System partition. It is even more unusual for it to have its boot files moved to C while still remaining Active. What did you do?
