Computer shuts down during win 7 install

I'm doing a clean install of win 7 64 bit off of an official cd. Part of the install goes well. It gets to 100%, reboots, goes to a screen that says it's loading settings. Then it gets to the completing installation phase and always at the same time, it shuts down. I'll hear the CD stop in my computer, then five seconds later, the computer just shuts off and I'll hear a faint beep. There's no warning message on the screen first. If I turn it on again, Windows will give the error that it restarted during install and I'll have to start over.

There's no network connection while I do this. The temperatures are all within norms. Everything worked fine under XP a few hours prior. I ran a memory test that was fine. I sprayed the dust out.

    Any ideas?

    *edit* Fixed!
My boyfriend just played around and disabled/enabled a million things in the bios.
His best idea is some security setting he changed.

Magically, it got past that point and is working. I don't know what changed, but if anyone else has this shut down problem, I guess, fiddle with everything in the bios that can safely be changed?

I'm having exactly the same problem so if anyone knows a solution to this, please share! I will now go and randomly disable things in the BIOS, although I have read on some posts that people have problems with the USB flash drive or printer being plugged in. So might start with disabling some USB options.

    Thanks DocBrown,

The first few times I tried to install windows, there were a few errors but I did manage to get windows to load up. After updating all the drivers however and doing a reboot, the same problem occurred, that is, it got to the windows logo in the startup screen and the computer then just turned off and restarted again.

This lead to the screen saying there was an error starting windows and gave the options of starting in safe mode or normally. If I selected normally, it would just repeat the whole process again.

Now, when I try to re-install windows from scratch, I can't even get windows to load up.

I asked my boyfriend to try and remember what he changed...he said he enabled/disabled some devices on the motherboard, if that helps any. I recall some people suggesting that I unplug network and usb devices but that solution unfortunately didn't work for me.

Also, after I was finally able to install Windows, we went back and restored the original bios settings. Windows didn't like that and did the shut down thing again so we had to leave them altered. So, if you do hit upon that magic setting, it's best just to leave it changed. Don't anger the windows gods.

    thanks for the speedy replies.
Doc, I tried the starting up in safe mode and had the same result, it came up with a list of drivers it was loading and then shutdown and rebooted.
I'm going to attempt to change a few BIOS settings now

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

You might want to start a new thread. This one has been marked as solved, most of the helpful people here won't normally check Solved threads.

You will get more help in a new thread.

    EDIT:
The Mods have un-marked it, so it's fine now.

Can you answer some questions on what you've done so far, this will help us to narrow down the possible problems and give you some relevant suggestions.
Please check the Forum sticky thread that DocBrown has mentioned, Questions to use for help with Installation Issues.
When these questions are answered we normally get a resolution much faster. With this information we can help you get Win7 installed.

A couple of things to try before you start randomly changing your BIOS.
    Have you updated the BIOS?
Check if there is a newer version, if there is install it.

If you already have the current BIOS version, before changing too many things, set everything to defaults.

Any Over Clocking of the RAM, CPU or GPU?

Weird thing happened, I changed the USB storage setting in the BIOS to disabled, rebooted and the same thing happened.
So I turned the computer off (or at least thought I did) but when I came back... ta da... windows was up and running. So I've just been updating all the drivers and window updates and everything seems to be ok. Hopefully it will stay that way! I have made a system image for backup!

To answer your questions Dave76, in case anyone else is interested, I did not update the BIOS. It was going to be my next move though.
Everything in the BIOS was set to default except for the USB keyboard which I enabled. (and I don't think that was the problem as I had tried it disabled for the first few attempts to install). The USB storage is the only option I changed.
And no, there was no over-clocking of any sort.
Thanks anyway for all the help. Much appreciated
