BOOTMGR Is Missing
So
My internet disconnected because my WIFI driver I guess bugged out and froze. The only way to get the dongle working again is to reboot so I clicked shutdown, and it froze on windows is shutting down. I then did what I hate doing and that's forcing the computer off with the power button but had no choice.
Upon reboot, BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl alt del to restart so I did. BOOTMGR is missing, BOOTMGR is missing. Told myself not to panic. I've been building computers and repairing then since I'm 9. I'm now 29 on Wednesday and taught myself everything I know.
It's OK Commack, it's just a start up issue. You don't need to reinstall Windows. Something I definitely didn't want to do. Where's my Win 7 disc? Oh, it's downstairs in the room where I'm keeping important stuff but my Mom is in there sleeping and the door is locked. Damn!
But wait! I have ANOTHER one from my uncles computer I built for him. I went and dug it out of the office and popped it in. I then booted from the DVD drive, and it started to load Window files. I hit next, and clicked repair my computer. It then found Windows on my C: drive, and I selected it. I then chose start up repair. 5 seconds later it told me to reboot, and I rebooted. It went past post, and no BOOTMGR is missing popped up.
I was then greeted with " Windows Is Starting " and here I am back in action good as new. That is why I ALWAYS tell people to never just turn off their computer. Always hit restart or shutdown, and let the computer prepare its self for shutdown. There's a reason that process exists. I've had to force reboot before in the past but never had this issue before. It's probably more because my OS is on an SSD and SSDs are flash memory. There's probably a higher chance for corruption because it's flash memory.
Anyway, thought I would share in case anyone ever has this issue smack them in the face. Just keep calm, and grab your windows disc, and do a repair before anything. The next step would have been a system restore as I just created a restore point a few days ago. I would have lost a few recent files but it would have been OK. I'm glad it was just a start up repair as that was quicker without the loss of any files.
Happy Holidays!
