Windows 7: Really Fubar Computer!

BTW - turn computer on and hit ESC, I am given several options that I will need to list tonite when I am in front of the computer at home - but believe there are three choices - Ubuntu is first choice and other two choices I just do not remember and if I hit F9 BIOS Boot Menu key to choose DVD or flash drive that is selected as the first option to boot from. Then I click F10 (?) which I believe is save and exit which takes me right to Ubuntu loading!

Do you get a prompt to "Press any key to boot disk" when you set DVD drive first to boot in BIOS setup?

If not try triggering DVD with the one-time BIOS boot menu key given on first boot screen, normally ESC or F9 on HP's.

If it doesn't boot then there's something wrong with the DVD, ISO or burn. Is DVD new, clean and unscratched?

If in doubt start over from Steps 1 and 2 from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If DVD method fails then try the USB install method given. If that fails unplug the DVD drive and try again.

Okay, new development - got Windows 7 PRO installed after a COMPLETE wipe of the HDD and it appears to be working fine. Now, I am installing Ubuntu 12.10. I am setting up the partitions and want to be sure they are correct before I INSTALL. Here is what I have:

free space - 1mb
/dev/sda1 - fat 32 - 104mb
/dev/sda2 - 134mb
/dev/sda3 - ntfs - 250gb
/dev/sda4 - swap - 5gb
free space 385gb

So, I know I need a Linux area - would that listed as "/" and about 150gb or would it be "/home" about 150gb - exactly what do I want to make it?

Know that I shoud NOT have a "/boot" is that correct?

Assume the "ntfs" partition is the Windows 7 partition?

Okay, did a clean swipe of HDD and installed Windows 7 PRO with no problem - everything working fine. Then "appear" to have installed Ubuntu 12.10 alongside Windows. When I start the computer, I have the choice of either selecting Windows or Ubuntu. When I select Windows, I have NO PROBLEMS. However, when I select Ubuntu, I get the following error message and need to know how to fix:

Windows failed to start and you must either:

1. Install Windows install disk
2. Choose your language
3. Click repair

File:\NST\AutoNeoGrub0.mbr
Status: 0Xc0000098

Selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

So, thoughts on how to get Ubuntu to launch when I chose? Know there is something I am missing.......I believe the loader is looking for the file \NST\AutoNeoGrub0.mbr????
