Problems with new motherboard installation

run a CMD as administrator, run the following command

bcdedit /set {current} detecthal yes

Shut down, replace mobo, start it back up.

EDIT: They seemed to have removed it from there. You can do it with BCDedit

bcdedit /set {current} detecthal yes

I've done that with no luck unfortunately. So based on the fact I have no windows 7 hard copy what's my next move.

If everything else is a loss at this point you could try to do a full sysprep and see if that will do it.

Paul, it is a long shot now, since everything else might have changed after all that was dine, but can you put the old motherboard back, create rescue disks, then install your new one and run a repair install?
I have replaced motherboards and done repair installs and I got Win7 working exactly the same way it was before. But I did it with the original install disk so, again, it is a long shot.

i've tried the repair disks with no luck unfortunately. I'm currently downloading the 30 day rtc in the hope a fresh install will cure the issue.

Good idea, I believe it should work. The new motherboard means a new computer for the OS, so it goes bizark. A clean fresh install should wipe all the things that are in teh wrong place now. It is recommended to format the disk and then install.

managed to get it installed using a fresh download 64 bit that now works. Trouble is my old key doesn't work. How do I get a new 64 bit key that would work on my product?

lol Well you have to buy a key from Microsoft. It's the only correct way. You can rearm your current install 3 times to make it a total of 90 days I believe, until you must purchase.
