Problem Installing 1394 ohci compliant host controller legacy driver
I am trying to use my Sony DSR-200A (DV) camera to my HP PC via fire wire. I am running Windows 7 Premium Home Edition, 64 bit. The computer does not recognize that anything is plugged in. I have read other threads saying that the fix is to switch to the 1394 ohci compliant host controller legacy driver. I have tried hooking the camera up to another HP computer with the same OS and everything, and it automatically installed the correct driver and recognized the camera! Very frustrating. When I try to switch the driver to the Legacy (on the non-cooperative PC), I get the following message:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
If you know the manufacturer of your device you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
The Sony DSR 200-A is an older camera that I don't believe has any installation disks or anything. I have downloaded all windows updates, including service pack 1, tried Windows Registry Repair (regsofts.com). I contacted FixNow and they remotely connected to my PC and said that the windows registry was messed up. Then they quoted me $200 to fix it. I told them no way. I figured this has to be some simple fix that I don't know of. Please let me know how I can get this HP to recognize the camera.
