isastor BSODs on the HP Envy 6 1010TU

Problem:
Occasionally, BSODs will occur on the HP Envy 6 1010TU which has already been reformatted with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I did the install myself. The BSODs will occur during youtube videos, during or after games and just simple web browsing. When it BSODs it tells me that the problem is originating from iastory.sys. After trying to troubleshoot the crap out of it i've come up with nothing. Keep in mind that the computer was running fine on the new Windows 7 install for months before BSODs started to occur.

Things i've tried:

• Searching for TDDSkiller rootkit (in safemode yielding no results)
• Reinstalling correct version of iastor drivers from HP support sites as well as Intel support sites
• Memory and Hard-Drive checks
• Uninstalling (in the Windows enviroment) the drivers of the storage hard drive and the mSATA SSD.
• Disabling the "acceleration" from the Intel Rapid Technology (caused the OS to stop booting)

Attempts for a clean install:
After trying all of the above, I decided it was time to wipe the entire computer. My method of reformatting was a bootable USB stick with the Windows 7 installer on it. The laptop takes me to the screen where it would show the drives but tells me "No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation". I download AHCI, iastor and the intel management something drivers in an attempt to recognise the drives, but all return with a message telling me specification about signatures being 32bit or 64bit unsigned. I checked all the drivers on my desktop and they all have valid dates and microsoft/intel signatures. Hence, I CANNOT reformat.

A little bit about the machine:

HP Envy 6 1010TU

1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-2467M

4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

500GB (5400rpm) with Intel Smart Response and Rapid Start Technology with a 32GB SLC mSATA

I highlighted the colour because there's probably something wrong with it.

It has a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 install on it currently. I installed the OS on the 500GB storage hard drive as I did not have much knowledge about drive caching and intel's Rapid Storage Technology. I did not know there was a SSD already there.

Solutions:
I've come to this forum a defeated man. I hope someone out there knows what my next steps should be. A clean install would be fantastic. I'm currently trying to get the OS bootable again so that the isastor probably can be fixed if reinstall is not possible.

Some assumed knowledge:
Know how to navigate all the control panel functions (device manager, drivers and windows partition manager). Can access BIOS (although very limited on this laptop), have reformatted many computers. Can navigate through command prompt stuff.

Here are steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Make sure you run a Clean boot with only your AV starting with Windows.

Thanks for the reply gregrocker, but the windows installer (that's on a bootable usb) does not show any drives to format. Even though, earlier today I was booting off that drive. The installer was showing no drives even with a windows installation.

Try reinstalling with the HP x64 Recovery disc's, than upgrade to Ultimate.

Okay, so I found the solution. The two drivers were in a particular configuration that went rooted beyond the OS. The configuration lead to it being undetectable in Windows 7 installer. However the drives were known to be connected using GParted. In reality, they were part of a Raid configuration that could only be accessed in Intel's Rapid Technology bios. And to access it you needed to crack open the laptop and pull out the ssd. Upon booting up the computer the Rapid Tech bios will appear. It's now a simple process of disabling RAID on the Hard Drive and then the SSD when you connect it again.

I'm going to install windows again and see how that goes.

Did you try accessing BIOS setup to change the SATA setting from RAID or turn off Intel Rapid tech?
