    Error 0x80040707

I am installing Sage 50 Accounting and the following error occurs: Error 0x80040707 Dll function call crashed: IRST_WaitOnDialog. Setup will now terminate. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Sage 50 suggested that I install Windows Installer 4.5 but that doesn't pertain to my system. I've tried a clean boot but not successful. Any help is much appreciated.

I think they meant install Net Framework 4.5: Download .NET Framework 4.5 from Official Microsoft Download Center

If this is older XP-era software you might need to install it in Compatibility Mode.

Can you install the program on another Win7 machine to see if it is a problem with your specific PC? If not, run SFC /SCANNOW Command to check your System File integrity.

In addition go over your install using Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

If you're running a corrupt factory preinstall that throttles Win7 native performance, I'd strongly consider Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If this is a program I must have then I'd try creating a new Admin-level user account to install it to see if something in your User account is corrupted and blocking it, even shrink my OS partition to install a test Dual Boot with Win7 for the purpose of seeing if a new install will accept the program. These may seem like extreme measures but it depends on how much you need the program.
