OCZ told me it`s the 750i motherboard that`s not allowing me to take full advantage of the ssd.

Doesn't the board have an Intel SATA port on it? you should try that if so. Sounds like OCZ is passing the buck.

Nope, all I see is Nvidia sata controllers and here are some numbers from a benchmark program called ATTO.

I checked and that board has nVIDIA chipset so no Intel SATA. Maybe OCZ is right. SSDs seem to perform better with Intel CPUs on an Intel SATA controller.
Still do what I've said and see if it improves. My M4 got a WEI of 7.4 when new and then went to 7.9 in a few days of use.

But the ports are supposed to be SATA 2, that`s 3 Gbs , correct ?

Yes it is.
SATA II= 3Gbs
SATA III= 6gbs
There is no noticeable difference in performance though. Even benchmarks show little difference.

At those speed (as per Atto), it does not really matter. The rates are well within the 3Gb/sec.

Just for the hell of it, I ordered some new Sata 2/3 cables.

I should be getting much closer to 300 MBs, shouldnt I ? The ports are supposed to be sata 2.

Anyway, I did a clean install and this time it went through with flying colors. Maybe as Britton says the speeds might get a little faster.

They might or might not get faster. Mine usually get slower over time until I start from scratch after a Secure Erase. And the cables should not really make a difference on a Sata2 port.

The numbers to look out for are the 4K nums. All the others are only of academic interest. The OS does not use those blocksizes (or hardly ever uses them).

Just a note, Maximum PC magazine did a test on many different SATA data cables and their conclusion was they are all equal. From a $1.50 one to a $20 one they all gave the same performance. SATA III does have the lock clips, which I like.

Can an Easy Transfer archive be used/read without using Easy Transfer?
This sounds like a dumb question, but here's the background. My daughter's XP laptop crashed (trashed hard disk that I doubt we can rescue much data from) and so we got her a Windows 7 computer. Unless we can rescue much of the old data from crashed XP, she's pretty much starting off empty. ...
