Complete OS Re-install to help diagnose AutoCAD problems
I just built a new machine that for me is a great machine. I am only encountering one problem and that is with AutoCAD with which I make my livelihood. So it is a major problem. I have posted my system, symptoms, and failed attempts on AutoDesk forum....
AutoCad crashes on keyboard entry. - Autodesk Discussion Groups
What I am hoping you folks can help me out with is this...
What I am contemplating doing is a total fresh install of everything from the sound up. I recently purchased a back-up Windows 7 HP disk that installed like a charm last time. I also have an Anytime Upgrade key to Windows Pro.
I would like to install AutoCAD at the earliest possible point. My question is at what point can I do the install? Although my new Windows & disk is fairly current, I know there are still a lot of updates that will want to download. I would like to stay offline as long as possible as I don't fell comfortable getting on the net without security in place, but the security may be one of my problems.
Do I update to Pro Before or after the AutoCAD install attempt.
Also, I know I will need to have a graphics driver in place to achieve the minimum 1024 x 768 resolution AutoCad needs. I will be in touch with nvidia to get that.
My old computer is still functioning well and can be used to download anything and transferred to the new machine via USB drive.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rich
