Unable to boot Windows System Repair Disc from CD Drive ASUS N56VM

I got it from X:\windows\system32 in recovery environment.

Ok i've got the elevated command prompt open but I have no idea where to find the folder for the bootsect.exe is (i'm quite new at this). How do I find this out? All I know is that I need to run the 2 commands to remove the grub bootloader frm the MBR but that's about it.
Also can't open the file you sent? when i click "run" it opens then disappears from my screen immediately. am i doing something wrong?

sorry I don't think i've been clear enough. When I installed ubuntu grub was installed automatically with it - so I don't know exactly where it is - it wasn't saved in a folder that I'm aware of. When I installed ubuntu i told the boot loader device to be put to what windows sees as the E; drive (in ubuntu its a gpt primary partition, ext 4, root - mount point \)
Does that make sense?
I also read that I should enter 2 commands:
1 bootrec.exe /fixboot
2 bootrec.exe /fixmbr
Is there a way I can find out where grub is in the mbr to remove it?

If you can get into windows you can get to a CMD promppt and type in bcdedit. The two commands in the above post will remove the GRUB Boot.

when I type in bcdedit it comes up with the details of the boot loader but when I type in the 2 commands:
1 bootrec.exe /fixboot
2 bootrec.exe /fixmbr
the following message came up:
"command" is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file???

If you enter bcdedit from an elevated command prompt in windows it will display what is in the bootloader. There are no other commands required for that. Now if you boot off of a Win 7 Boot disk and want to remove grub, just choose the command prompt from the display and enter:

C: which will bring you to the C:\ directory

then type in bootrec /fixmbr
then bootrec /fixboot.

This works as I did it 3 times yesterday after messing with some linux Distros.

I would love to do that but the problem that brought me here in the first place is that I am unable to access the win 7 recovery tools on the system repair disc - please see start of post for the details. If you can come up with a solution so that I can run the recovery tool from the cd I would be incredibly grateful as it's worrying me that the only option I get is to run the Asus preload wizard and put everything back to factory settings.

Two thoughts come to mind.
1. You had a bad burn of the ISO. Try burning another disk using a different burning app. I prefer the free ImgBurn and try burning at no more than 4x speed.
2. Is BIOS set to boot from CD/DVD optical drive as first boot option?

Note - when i go to create a system repair disc the only option is to insert a disc. There is no way that I can see to use ImgBurn to do this instead - if you know of a way round this, please let me know.
