dual boot win7

hi
I need to install Linux on my pc and I bought a separate drive for it.
I have never done this. so what are the steps ?
I boot the pc with Linux installation CD and do the installation and windows will automatically detect dual boot or I have to do something ?

It's best to unplug the Windows 7 HD during Linux install to keep them separate booted by the BIOS.

After install plug back in Windows 7 HD and set it first to boot in BIOS setup, then boot Linux HD using BIOS Boot Menu key.
