Win Update Errors (attn Dude)

Dude and or others, thanks in advance for your help with this. I've updated my configuration on this site.

I attached an image with most of the errors on the updates.

I'm also getting a flashing dark (not black, just darker than normal) screen on my machine. I can't find anything that may be causing this.

Ok, uploading the image didn't work.

Here's the first update that failed:

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2661254)

Installation date: ‎2/‎11/‎2013 2:02 PM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 80071A90

Update type: Important

Install this update to keep your system up to date by increasing the minimum level of encryption on Windows systems. After you install this item, you may have to restart your system.

Here's the most recent:

Could you please present the full version of your problem as it reads like a post in the middle of a thread rather than describing a problem from the top.

Also, who is Dude?

gregrocker,

I'm having some software issues:

1. One program is giving me an error each time I run it. I should not be giving this error.
2. I have one screen, out of 4, that is blinking/flashing to a darker color and back to normal. Flashing darker/normal.

I've had some recent issues where updates failed to install. I ran the auto help for that, which said it was fixed, so now I'm running update again to see if that helps.

There's a user named Dude that told me to post my issue here.

OK I know who you're talking about now.

Sounds like you have a problem with the monitor, or the controller that's driving a four screen setup. I'd check its settings, reinstall the monitor or swap it with another.

Do you know for sure you need those Updates, as they may not be needed.

Look on your Shut Down button: are Updates cued? If so you need to shut down and let them install. I'd reboot anyway.

What is happening with the Updates now?

The update is almost finished.

I was thinking there may be a monitor issue.

It seems that the screen flashing has gone away, so maybe that was just a reboot issue or an update issue.

ok, so there are still old updates that failed on install. I found where I can have Windows fix the problem, or so it says. Once I do this it's still listed as failed. Is that because the window where this is being displayed has not been updated? Do these need to be reinstalled some how?
