Problem installing windows 7 on ubuntu 11.04

I have uBuntu installed on my Compaq CQ42 right now. I want to install Windows 7 but when I boot from a DVD I get a black screen and a blinking cursor.

When I boot from a USB Drive, I'm able to enter the setup and boot properly but when I click Custom Install, I get this error:

No drives were found .Click load driver to provide mass storage

When I browse, I'm unable to locate my hdd, it just show a drive which is the USB, cd rom etc but not my laptop HDD.

How do I install Windows 7 side by side ubuntu.

    Please help

It should work like this: Dual Boot - Windows 7 and Linux - Windows 7 Forums

Is Ubuntu booting? If not is the HD even registering in BIOS setup? If not check cables and test the HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan followed by a full Disk Check.

Sometimes GRUB can corrupt Win7 to where it won't repair or install. You may need to wipe the HD first with Diskpart Clean Command to clear the boot sector of code, allowing install of Win7 and then Linux.

Where did you get Win7? Is this a known good installer which works on another PC? If not try another ISO from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and when you run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates after install. Any drivers still missing can be found on the PC or Device's Support Downloads webpage.

More in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 tutorial to get a perfect install.
