i am in need of assistance, when i try updating my win 7 x64bit i keep on getting " code 646 windows update encountered an unknown problem"

what should i do to fix this error

I need more info about yours system. Was it a clean install, or an upgrade?

We could also use some info about your computer.

yes sir it was a fresh install. i am running on win 7 64bit amd athlon 6400+ 3.2 ghz processor, 4gb ddr2 800 , 500gb WD sata hdd and 4870 vidcard.

After much reading I may have it. what firewall are you running?

i only have windows as a firewall

i dont have any 3rd party firewall installed and i also have a nod 32 ver. 4 antivirus installed
