Recent Items folder not keeping items more than 48 hours

I have recently had to have Windows 7 reinstalled. Since then my jump lists hardly contain any items. The max No. of items is set to 20, but they never get anywhere close.

Now I have discovered that my Recent Items folder

C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items

is only keeping items from today and yesterday, and these items are the only ones that appear in my jump lists.

How can I set the Recent Items folder to keep items for longer?

Right click on the empty area of Start Menu, choose Properties, at bottom change the "Number of Recent Items to Display in Jump Lists" up to maximum 60.

On my installs I also set Downloads as a link, Computer and Control Panel as a Menu.

Thanks for your response, but this does not work on my system. I reset the number of programs & jump list display items (max was 30 not 60) but has made no difference. Items not opened for over 48hrs disappear

If this is factory preinstalled Win7 then these types of issues occur because it's a corrupt install to begin with, requiring most tech enthusiasts to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to get a perfect install instead. Until then you can Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

Otherwise I'd run SFC /SCANNOW Command and report back the results.

How to display recent folders in recent items
I found that on the C:\Users\user1\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent folder, there are also the recent folder locations (aside from the recent files). Is there a way to display these recent locations as well? This could be helpful in cases where I suddenly closed a windows explorer, and I...

Recent Items?
Just upgraded to Windows 7, and the only thing I'm missing so far about Vista is the Recent Places tab in the start menu. Is there a comparable shortcut for W7? Or can I create one?
