Use a backup imaging or cloning program like Acronis which comes free with any WD or Seagate HD (google for downloads page) or Macrium - Image your system

If it's Acronis with Universal Restore then it will adjust to the new hardware for you. Otherwise you will need to do a Repair Install, SysPrep to move HD to another computer, or boot Paragon Adaptive Restore CD freeware.

You're wasting a lot of time with an XPired OS which is so old and decrepit it can't be installed on modern hardware without major surgery.

Have you installed WIn7 yet? Unplug all other drives except the target HD to Clean Install Windows 7.

We can deal with XP once 7 is up and running. Read over the Reinstall link in my siggy below to see valuable tips about what assures a perfect Win7 install.

Upgrade my hardware
I have a Pentium 4 @ 2.8ghz The spec sheet says I can have up to 4gb ram (4 slots available) It says I have 2 IDE connectors & 2 Sata connectors. If I upgrade the ram to the 4gb & get a 200gb SATA HD, will that make a pretty decent computer to use Windows 7 on ?
