Need to install windows 7 from external

    Hey,

I'm trying to install windows seven via an external drive. What I've done so far:

Created partition of 5.5gb on drive, formatted as FAT32
Used PowerISO to extract all the files to the partition
followed the steps for booting with a UEFI system
    plugged in external into desktop
open boot menu, it displays my external with UEFI: infront of the name
    Boot from it

And then I get an error

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
    3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance

    Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

I'm not sure what to do here. The hard drive I'm trying to install to is empty, there isn't an OS on it.

Hello and welcome Dihas mate why don't you just use this USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

I don't understand why you are trying to install from an external drive. Is this external a clone of another already loaded drive if so why not just clone it to the internal hard drive??

I don't have any USB sticks, and when I try and install from a disk I get an error. I have a 500gb external drive, and thats the only thing I have left. I don't see how I could clone the install to the internal.

Burn the ISO to a DVD.

So just how are you booting the machine? I don't know of any way that booting from an external is possible.
You can try disconnecting the external and then try the disk again if you haven't disconnected the external when trying to install from the disk before.

Now if you have access to a second machine then I would be taking out the internal and hooking both the external and it to it and use Macrium Reflect to clone the internal.

The other thing to do is a bit drastic but a possibility and that is to remove the external hard drive from it's case and install it as it is into the machine. Disconnect the other drive and boot from it. Then you can download some drive testing apps because that internal sounds like it has a few problems.

Plus some system specs would be really helpful

Where did you get Win7? How did you burn it to DVD? Use ImgBurn at 4x speed.

    Then Clean Install Windows 7.
