Hello?

Where are the boot files? Probably on this partition.

Your going to have to fix your master boot record, NOT to include the Winxp. EasyBCD is what i usually use.

If I was you.
1. orb -> msconfig -> click and make Win 7 default.
2. click XP and delete the option
3. check the delay time an set for 5 second.

Reboot

orb -> cmd -> bcdedit -> now scan an see where {boomgr} is located.
if {bootmgr} is on the same partition that your Win 7 is your in business.
plz post back with this info before you FORMAT .

Ready simple, just remove the OS, and any applications you do not want by "Deleting" them in the normal manner. If you come across a file that won't delete then gain ownership, then delete. Once you have all files deleted then "Defrag". Not the greatest way, albeit it works.

Hi erasmus,

I wouldn't always believe where bcdedit tells you bootmgr is.

In this case, it will be on the XP partition - I assume you had XP installed first?

Boot into 7 - go to folder options and make sure Hidden files and protected operating files are showing.

Have a look on the XP partition for bootmgr and a pale yellow boot folder.

Next open an elevated command prompt and type:

bcdboot c:\windows /s c:

then press enter.

Now look on your 7 partition - you will see them there.

Mark the 7 partition active ( in disk management, rt click 7 partition and Mark as Active).

Reboot to hand System status to the 7 partition.

You will now be fine to delete XP partition.

In which case Windows would prevent him from formatting the disk. And he would have come back to ask more questions. So, the red text is unnecessary

The solution is still format I think. Just need some extra steps which SIW2 just laid out.
