You still likely have a ruined OS using that optimizer. I'd invest in the vastly superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with steps are the same for retail.

well, I wish I could say that this is fixed, but I can't yet. I called Microsoft; 2 people said that I have a valid Windows product key, so they think that I have a corrupt windows install.
Is there ANY way to fix this, without reformatting & reinstalling the OS & all my programs?
Did you contact Microsoft to see if they could extend your Product Key for more usage ? If not you would have to purchase a new Windows 7 OS
How was the MAK key originally activated? These keys are normally administered by IT departments for large organizations.
If MS says it's a valid key I'd try to activate with it now at Control Panel>System. Did they offer any help or advice to do this?

They checked my product key-it's good, and my installation ID-it's also good. My key is good until August 9th. I have a volume MAK license. I just don't want to have to hose this thing again; I'm tired of reinstalling everything! I have the "Repair install - Windows 7 help forums" page on another tab in the browser.
I think I know what I did wrong--I didn't disable the anti-virus.
Microsoft has a contract with the college I went to in order to make their software available to the college students who are in computer programs. Their program used to be called MS****, now, it's called Dr********. I'm not sure whether I should name the programs, so I'm not going to. I was assigned the product key when I picked the OS to "buy". Microsoft gives students a two-year license.
The tech at Microsoft said that my install was bad, that's why I keep getting the error messages.
I have done a lot of clean installs - but it means losing the other programs that are installed.
I haven't tried "change product key", but I will right now. I'll let you know what happens.
