windows 7 in 64 bit mode

    Hi,

I tried installing windows 7 . But by default windows 7 ultimate installs in 32 bit . I dont get any screen displayed asking for the option. I checked my system and my sytem was rated as it has got the capable of working in 64 bit mode.

    Any ideas.

I did a clean installation and i dont know windows 7 ultimate by default installs in 32 bit. do i have configure the BIOS.

The 64-bit installer is a separate DVD.

If you call Microsoft you can order the 64 bit CD but they will require you to give them your activation number to confirm you have already purchased Windows 7.

Where did you get the Windows 7 installation disk?

The retail versions come with separate disks for the 32 and 64 bit versions. For download from the Microsoft Store, the two versions are both available, but as separate downloads.

I think that there may be a version for MSDN subscribers that can install either from a single disk, but I'm not sure that would fit on a single-layer (4.7GB) DVD. (Double sided would have more than enough capacity.)
