Problems moving existing USER profiles to another drive...

I want to move all my existing USER accounts from my C: SSD to a D: HDD. I followed the steps in "method 1" of User Profile - Change Default Location
and have run across some issues. I used my GUEST account as a test of the procedure.

Step 1: I could not find the "share with" and "none" options.
Step 8: Copying from C: users folder to the new D: users folder... some of the filenames were too long to copy, were skipped.

Followed the rest of the instructions, and logged into the GUEST account. Win7 proceeded to set up a new profile for me, with a message to the effect that it couldn't find profile info and would set up a temp profile each time logged into it. I suspect this is because of the copy issues... might have missed a critical file. Should I have used an outside-of-Win7 approach for the copy e.g. bootable Linux?

    Any help is gratefully appreciated!

Did the out-of-Win7 copy using a Linux utility, still getting the "temp profile" message.
