Re-install on partition

Hi all
Firstly my apologies if this question has been asked.
My PC has a 2 TB hard drive with 2 equal partitions, my question is can I move all my files I want to keep onto the second partition and re-install Windows 7 on the first partition leaving my files untouched?

Thank you for your help.

Yes you can, but best to back up Data to a External HDD.

As long as you don't touch the second partition during install, it can be done but is always still risky. Files should always be backed up. A free method to the cloud is here to Sync, Backup and Store your Files to the Cloud with Skydrive - Windows 7 Help Forums.
